It’s My Birthday . . . So I’m Phoning It In

bdaywork

Yep, that’s right.  It’s bad enough that I actually have to go to work on my birthday (the horror!), but I’m definitely not also going to try to craft a real post at the same time.  I mean, what do you people want from me?  Jeesh!

So, instead, I thought we’d just take a little walk down memory lane and revisit the post I created for my birthday last year.  If you are new around here, check it out as it is all about my past birthdays and the disasters that have resulted therein.  If you have previously read it, feel free to give yourself a refresher.  Especially since the hubs and I are going to Atlantic City this weekend just as we did last year, so it’s pretty much just last year’s birthday, redux.

Ghosts of Birthdays Past

And speaking of previous posts . . . also head on over to the lovely and talented Peg-O-Leg’s blog to check out one of my earliest posts, which is being featured there today on her “THIS one should have been Freshly Pressed” series.  While I’m not sure it is even up to the quality of most of her other submissions, I am nothing if not a shameless blog whore, so when I sent her my post and told her that today was my birthday, what choice did she have but to humor me and throw me a pity mention on her much too good for me blog?  She’s all class, that Peg.  So, check it out if you are feeling similarly charitable, and also make sure you read some of her stuff, as it is brilliant and thoughtful and wonderful.  Thanks, Peg!

I even earned this nifty badge!  Much better than those silly Freshly Pressed ones.  Pfft.  Who needs them anyway??  (If you are reading Oh Great and Powerful WP gods . . . I still do.  Love you!!).

Ok, off to work grumble grumble.  Happy Birthday to me?

Happy birthday! Always a tough call: don’t blog because it’s your birthday, or do because you can make everyone read it…

Exactly! I wanted to blog, but then again, I didn’t really WANT to blog, ya know? This was sort of a happy medium of leftovers, but it was still something.

Happy birthday! I always liked to go to work on my birthday because it means someone will tell me to have a happy birthday. Maybe you get lunch or a cake. And you’d think that having a husband would help with the that…except The Boy forgot my birthday last year until the next evening when I walked into the bar and said “you need to tell me happy birthday before we develop a problem.”

So what I’m saying here is enjoy your work birthday!

Yeah, except not one person said happy birthday at work, and no lunch or cake. Not even a card (technically). I would have much preferred sleeping in and staying home.

That’s a rough one. When the hubs/boy forgets something like that, that is indeed cause for concern. I wonder how long it would have gone on?

    Happy Birthday from Canada!

When I work on my birthday, I get to tell teens, “You have to listen to me today. It’s my birthday.” It works. For 5 minutes…

Ooh, international birthday wishes! Huzzah!! 🙂

Yeah, nobody listens to me . . . even on my birthday. I had to say this later that evening, “please don’t make me yell at you on my birthday!” Two guesses as to who I was speaking to . . .

Happy B’Day, Misty! I think you are one clever chick! I know your hubby is going to do right by you because it is your birthday — and because it is Wednesday. Enjoy!

Are you letting Joss Whedon write your life?! ‘Cause Buffy never had a happy birthday either. On HER 16th birthday, she slept with Angel and he lost his soul and starting killing her friends.

Happy birthday, Misty! Hope the Good Karma Fairy smacks you with her wand!

I hope you had a maaaarvelous birthday (I’m guessing so based on last night’s texts, heh), Misty!! I just saw Peg put up a bacon post today, as I’m about to read your guest post. I think we + bacon are about to take over the world. Yes.

Happy Birthday! Regarding your bday where you boyfriend broke up with you…we had that at work. A guy and a girl were out to dinner before the show, the whole evening being her birthday celebration, and he broke up with her over dinner. Did not accompany her to the show. She arrived crying and had an empty seat next to her the whole night. The house manager was fully prepared to throw the guy out if he showed up. I’m not sure if hickeys were involved or not.

Wow, that is cold. To take someone out on their birthday and break up with them there? So horrible. At least mine was just hanging out in my dorm room watching movies. Not quite as dramatic. Poor girl.
